AmpliTest Borreliaburgdorferi(Real Time PCR)
A kit for detecting DNA sequences specific for Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria using the Real Time PCR technique.
The genus Borrelia includes about 36 species of bacteria belonging to spirochetes. From among them , a group of several closely related species (genospecies) called Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato was distinguished. At least 12 of them are pathogenic species and cause Lyme disease. The most important are: Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia garinii and Borrelia afzelii. Lyme disease is a disease transmitted to humans and other mammalian species by ticks of the genus Ixodes. A person becomes infected as a result of contact with the saliva or vomit of a tick that carries spirochetes. The first stage of infection with Borrelia burdorferi spirochetes is the appearance of migratory erythema appearing at the site of the bite. In the second stage of infection, bacteria enter organs such as the heart, locomotor organs, nervous system. In the last stage of infection, the affected organs are irreversibly damaged. The main reservoir of pathogenic Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria are rodents.
The AmpliTest Borrelia burgdorferi (Real Time PCR) kit enables the detection of DNA sequences specific forBorrelia burgdorferi sensu lato spirochetes in DNA samples isolated from the tissues of an infected animal (mammal or tick). The Real Time PCR reaction is duplex. DNA detection of the spirochete takes place in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) is used for internal control detection. The controls in the form of DNA molecules obtained by genetic engineering methods included in the kit enable the control of the correct course of the Real Time PCR reaction.
