AmpliTest Babesia (Real Time PCR)
Kit for detecting DNA sequences specific for the protozoan Babesia canis, Babesia gibsoniand Babesia divergens using the Real Time PCR technique.
Babesia (Babesia) are pathogenic parasites belonging to the kingdom protist. They cause a disease in vertebrate animals called babesiosis. In humans, this disease can occur as zoonosis. The genus Babesiaincludes more than thirty species, about ten of which are considered pathogenic.
Babesia canisand Babesia gibsonicause a disease called canine babesiosis. It is a disease that affects animals all over the world. Babesiosis protozoa are transmitted by ticks. The disease is usually violent, and if left untreated, it leads to the death of the animal. Erythrocytes are attacked and destroyed, which leads to anemia. There is significant damage to internal organs, in particular the kidneys and liver. In addition, severe cardiovascular disorders and jaundice may occur. Symptoms of the disease include apathy, lack of appetite, swollen lymph nodes, high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, problems with urination, hematuria, respiratory and circulatory failure, nervous system disorders.
Babesia divergens It causes a disease in cattle called European hemoglobinuria. It is a parasitic disease of cattle in northern Europe. The incubation period of the disease is about a week. The symptoms of the disease are similar to those of canine babesiosis.
The AmpliTest Babesia (Real Time PCR) kit enables the detection of DNA sequences specific for the protozoan Babesia canis, Babesia gibsoniandBabesia divergens in DNA samples isolated from the tissues of an infected animal (mammal or tick). The Real Time PCR reaction is duplex. Detection of protozoal DNA takes place in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) is used for internal control detection. The controls in the form of DNA molecules obtained by genetic engineering methods included in the kit enable the control of the correct course of the Real Time PCR reaction.
